Hi Members! New to this group & seeking info on any groups in the Taree area of the Mid Nth Coast?
I have Fibromyalgia & most of it's associated symptoms & effects, still have problems with Drs 'believing' in Fibromyalgia (even my Pain Management Dr.!) after being diagnosed some 8yrs ago while living in Qld.
I've 'run the gauntlet' of various drug 'therapies' & just about given up on finding something that works 'regularly' and would be interested if some-one out there knows of a Dr. in this area who can efectively treat this condition! I know we can all suffer different symptons at different times .. it would be great to talk to someone, or a group, who support each other to confirm we are not 'mad'!
Does any one know if there is 'help' at a domestic level for times when we cannot cope? eg. some housework. Seems when I have contacted voluntary groups offering this help, because I don't look 'handicapped', I don't qualify!
I'm still finding my way around the site, be patient of I don't get back to you right away.
Cheers for now, nodramuzz.

Fibromyalgia
Hi
Sorry can't help re doctors in your region, but you may be interested to have a look at this website http://www.pathways2wellbeing.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp Doctor Daniel Lewis a rheumatologist in Melbourne has just released a dvd Living Well with Fibromyalgia. Hope you find some support in your area soon. If I can be of any help, let me know.

Welcome
Hi
It's taken me a while to reply, sorry. I hope you've got some leads on doctors. Not having FM myself, I can't speak for your condition, but it can take a while to find a treatment that works. If you can stand to keep on trying though, the chances of you finding a good treatment are a lot better.
I don't know a lot about home help, but I do remember that Wesley offers domestic assistance services to both the elderly and young people with disabilities. To get that you should only need a doctor's certificate, no matter how 'well' you look. I checked on the net and there seems to be a Wesley in Taree, so perhaps they're worth talking to?
I hope you find this site useful, I know I'm grateful for the contact and support that it gives me from other sufferers.
