Specific Lymph node question

I am sorry if this is a bit invasive but I am interested to know if anyone else with CFS has had any unexplained swollen lymph nodes / glands?

I have had mine on the front left side of my neck for 3 months now, with new ones appearing. One Dr brushed it off with the usual viral thing go home and rest. The other Dr is keen to keep an eye on them and suggests an ultrasound in the near future.

I am still yet to see a specialist for CFS. How does one choose between Immunologist, Haemotologist, Infectious diseases and Endocrinologist?

Anyway, feedback on the Lymph node Q would kill my curiosity. I am still reading back through older posts for other answers:)

Best wishes,

Marina

I don't have the lymph node

I don't have the lymph node thing, but I've found that odd symptoms come and go in waves with my CFS - shooting nervy pains all over, aching jaw, sore throat, totally reverse sleeping patterns... oh the joys of CFS. I just take it as part of the experience, and haven't followed up with specialists. My doctor has said she would like me to see some specialists, but has also said that they would only be able to rule out more serious conditions and not actually help me. So for me, the hassle of going is not worth it.

Everyone's experience of CFS is different though, and a specialist might be able to help you. I know that swollen lymph nodes are common with CFS but that's all I know, not much help! I hope they're not too painful for you.

Swollen gland

Hi Marina,
Firstly ,it is not unusual to have swollen glands with ME/CFS but it reminded me of a problem that 2 of my sisters had which was a Cyst on the Thyroid gland which I think just needed to be drained.. maybe it would be worth asking about....that care.....

Lymph Nodes

I haven't been diagnosed us yet (still waiting after 4 years) but do relate very much to the swollen lymph nodes. I have found lymphatic massage to be most helpful, if you can find one in your area I highly receommend you try it.

Hi

Lymph Nodes are an important part of your immune system.
Many ME specialists are conviced that ME is closely linked with them. Some researchers belive that ME relolves around an under/over-active immune system.
Basically, your immune system doesn't 'work' properly.
For example - Your body detects a problem and your immune system responds to deal with it (or NOT, in some cases!) Sometimes, once the immune system has 'dealt' with the problem, it continues to react at the same level, resulting in your body being 'overworked'. I have experience swollen/tender Nodes at various times over the 4 years since I have been diagnosed. You may also experience this problem in your armpits. Usually, an extended period of rest helped with this.

Lymph nodes

Hi, I haven't posted before and do not have cfs myself, but my 15 year old son does. He did have swollen lymph nodes at one stage and as there was one that was considerably larger than the others. He had an ultrasound, which showed nothing sinister, but put our minds at rest.

Yes I do have this problem

Yes I do have this problem in my armpits as well. I thought it must be gland related. These days I just try to worry less & relax more Smiling Whenever I get that, oh no it could be this it could be that feeling, I put my mind to rest & remind myself that I will be okay. Thank you for your message. It has helped to kill my curiosity a bit. I will keep working at supporting my immune system as much as possible. I have been less healthy lately Smiling
