There will be a few things moving around and being added to in the next few days. I'm going to do my best to implement some of the great ideas that have been brought up over the last 12 months and make this place oodles easier for everyone.
The official announcement forums here will be phased out and there might be some consolidation happening, but otherwise very little change here. Announcements for forum things will be as pinned topics, and standard announcements will be blogged on the front page (*sniffle* so this'll be my last "I'm tinkering with the site" post on the forums, next time I'll have to be completely sensible as it'll be on the front page)
New forum comments has been changed to active forum topics so you can see from the front page if someone has started a new thread. If we don't like it that way, I can change it back, but lets live with it for a while and see how it goes. Hopefully it'll stop new threads being overlooked :)
The right sidebar is likely to disappear, but we'll have to make sure it doesn't make the central lines of text too wide. If it does, I'll pop non-text things in the right side to try and cut down on visual clutter.
There are a few new image links around, have a click, see what you think :) If anything is broken, let me know.
Support groups have moved/are moving to a link in the INFORMATION menu on the left. Have a look at Wollongong's page, for the moment that is our basic standard and hopefully what all other support group pages will look like by the end of the week. Is there any other information that might be useful if you were looking for a support group in your area?
(SG leaders, if you could contact either myself or Kerry at the office with as much info as you are willing to publish, that'd be great)
Dan has put up a bundle of new merchandise and piccies of our donation items which can be accessed by the menu link or the picture of the butterfly on the left. I'll be going through and reducing the size of the images in the next few days for the benefit of those on dial-up, but it is well worth a look. Does anyone have any suggestions for other items that they'd like to see in our merchandise range? I'll bundle up all suggestions and pass them along to the management committee for you :)
The Entertainment Book link will be made available ASAP. We are having a few of those infamous 'technical difficulties', but the lovely Shelley at the office is chasing things up and it'll all be sorted in no time. For the time being, you can give the office a call and put your order in that way.
Newsfeeds (ME/CFS News in the left sidebar - visible when you are logged in) need a reshuffle. Not 100% sure what is happening there but if anyone has any feeds that they think we should be showing, let me know!
IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP AND BEEN UNABLE TO LOG IN, I'm working on it. I've only recently discovered exactly how difficult it is for people. (I've been merrily oblivious because I'm the one that pushes the buttons back here :( ) What is going to happen is that I'm going to rig up a few extra settings so that anyone who has NEVER been able to log in after signing up will get a new "Welcome to the NSW ME/CFS Site" email with their name and password included.
This email will come out in the next week, I'll make a big deal about it on the front page so everyone knows (and can make sure their spam filter doesn't eat it)
There is also a bundle of new articles, nutshells, links and stories going up. If you are a writer or want to try your hand at a bit of freelance journalism for a good cause, give me a yell.
I'm also after good ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, or other chronic illness blog(ger)s (traditional blogs, photoblogs, anything goes) that people think are a good read.
Right, I think that is it for now. I'll update more as it happens.
Hope you are all having a smiley day :D
Abbey
Ohhhkay! we are getting
Ohhhkay! we are getting there :)
Hopefully our log in issues are now all fixed up. Thank you very much to the lovely lady that emailed me a while back and told me about these issues, I had no idea things were so tricky.
EXISTING MEMBERS
Existing members who have never logged in will be sent a series of reminder emails containing their username and password and a link to click. If you have received a reminder email just click the link and change your password to something you can remember. That is it, you are all done!
NEW MEMBERS
New members will be sent two emails. The first email will be sent immediately after you sign up. This basically just explains the process and lets you know that your account is in the queue for approval. Once I have verified your account to ensure you aren't a spambot, I'll approve your account and you'll get a second email containing your username and password. You can either type in your username and password OR click the log in link to gain access. From there, you change your password to something easy for you to remember and your account is ready to go!
Now, just to be clear, I verify EVERY account by hand to weed out advertisers and spammers to keep this place nice and safe for everyone, that is all. It can take up to 48 hours as, although most days I'll check and approve accounts twice daily, I also have ME/CFS and some days I get a little overwhelmed.
If you sign up and need access ASAP (we all have those days occasionally) hassle me with an email after you log in. I can't guarantee I'll be near a computer and able to help you, but I'll try :)
The Entertainment Book link is up for those of you wishing to purchase online.
I'm still working through the Support Group information. If you are a leader and you haven't been contacted about this, shoot Kerry an email on swo@me-cfs.org.au with your group details. :) If you have a group logo or graphic that you'd like on the page, include that also.
WELCOME to all the new members that have logged in for the first time tonight, good to see you here :)
I think that is it for tonight. Sleep well when you do :)

Fibromyalgia support website links
Hi Abbey
Thanks for your hard work, it is greatly appreciated.
I'm a writer, with a degree in literature and journalism, so if you're looking for a hand let me know. Depending on how my fibro is at the time, determines the level I am able to participate. Sometimes I'm good, specially in the warmer months, sometimes not so good, for example Autumn and change of seasons.
There are two fibromyalgia forums I am a member of, one is MSN groups page 'FMS Australia', and the other is at www.care2.com, which is an American website dedicated to humanities and environmental causes. They have a good active group in there called the 'Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue forum' http://www.care2.com/c2c/group/fm_cfs . The good thing about this group is that it doesn't have national boundaries so we can discuss what's going on in all parts of the world in regard to what helps, what research is going on where, as well as some good old fashioned support and understanding.
With kindest regards
Amby
