Multi-function printers

Ok, I've decided that I really and truly need a printer at home, and a multi-function one seems a very good idea.

I've been looking at the ones available in the stores (and online) and there's a lot out there.
I'm thinking of getting one that's $100 or less.

What I'd like to know is if has one of these, or even a plain printer, and what you think of the brands, quality, the inks etc.
The brands that I've looked at are: HP, Epson, Brother, Lexmark and Canon.

Multi-function printers

Epson are fussy about inks and no-name and refill cartriges.
Dad has an HP which is totally awesome, its photo quality though, but very reliable.
Love my Canons. They are like the energizer bunny, we still have an old B&W from the days of 386 computers (pre-pentium)
Haven't ever dealt with Lexmark or Brother.
