As much as we love our current website, it is becoming quite cumbersome to keep updated and could really do with a bit of streamlining.
Over the next few months its being rebuilt.
My question is: what do you think should be on it?
Some thoughts I had included:
Helpful links for housebound people in NSW
Some personal stories
maybe some activities which could be done to assist with research and awareness
Anyone have any other thoughts?

UPDATE:
Daniel and I have started work on the new website and if all things go to plan we should have it up and running well before the end of August.
YES the nasty survey will be going
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
UPDATE:
Survey is GOOOONE!
I am playing with the presentation and will need some guinea pigs later next week to give it a good going over
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
I'll be your guinea pig!!!
)
Just let me know when, and I'll go snuffling around the site (well that's what guinea pigs do, isn't it??
(and I didn't mind the survey that much!)
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
UPDATE:
And now its down to the fiddly bits, links, PDFs and the like.
I'm having an arguement with the theme at present, but all will be well
ALL PAGES are available for download in PDF format so the articles can be printed out and distributed should anyone wish to do so
Once we get the base site done, then come the fun parts...
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
UPDATE:
Links up.
I need more FM links and more youth links as well as some mailing lists and the like
Taking a break until Monday to tear my personal computer apart and redo it so it is more co-operative

Small stall here, I've had a bit of a health hiccup and things have been put on hold for a few days til my head un-muddles itself. I *could* continue as is, but i figure we actually want the site to be somewhat readable
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
I hope your health unhiccups itself soon and you feel better!!
I'd offer to help, but I think my head is in a vice or something....
So it wouldn't be any more readable!
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
UPDATE:
OK, back on track.
Fixing a few unusual things that have cropped up (all the bold text was brown for some reason??) and trying to organise some of the hierachy issues but all is going well
I'll need a bunch of testers next week, and some proof readers, so if you have some time to boss me about, pop a post up here and I'll PM you the test site URL so you can have a poke around
WEBSITE - OVERHAUL
OH SO CLOSE!
I can feel it! its getting very very close to being ready to launch!

Have a squiz!
There are plenty of things that still need doing, but the bones are up and the rest can just be a work in progress

Aaaand I broke it.
Not all of it, just misplaced some buttons. Not to worry though, I'll fix it right up
Tomorrow. Not right now.
Format Restoration.
I know I had zero input to the transfer to the new system, but can we lose the distractions on either side of the forum material please?
It's more consisten with the formats of other fora to put the person options and navigation at the top, and links to other pages/sites at the bottom.
Trying to concentrate on a narrow column in the middle of everything else is like trying to read a news site that's full of distracting ads, and as CFSers I think the reading the point you want should be easier.

I will see what I can jiggle
I will see what I can jiggle around, but this system is not designed like your average bulletin board so it is a bit trickier to get it to behave in the same way. I can certainly put the account controls in the header for when people log in, but we'll have to see about the sidebars, as on one hand I can certainly see your point, but on the other they have navigation options that simply would not fit along the header or footer. I may be able to incorporate an option to flick some of these things off when users log in (I *think* it is already there for one or two of the blocks) but as it would be an option that was implemented site-wide I'm hesitant to have that as the default.
I've been making notes of a few forum functions that need tweaking, some of it is downright puzzling why it has been designed the way it has, so I'll pop it on my to-do list and see what I can arrange to make it simpler. The list is a bit lengthy, but once this weekend is over I should have a bit more time to throw at it.
Thanks for the feedback!
