I'd love to hear some opinions on this article, it is currently doing email rounds on a lot of groups.

Some of the comments following it are a bit broad, and some are very narrow, and some are pretty informative. One in particular scares the willies out of me (Mel of SA).

I am curious about when people read an article like this if they make judgements on which of the interveiw subjects are actually suffering from ME/CFS and which aren't. It seems to be a common thing, and one I don't really understand.

If you do this, what information is this based on? Why do you feel that you are in a position to make the call?

If you don't do this, why not?

There have been times when i've doubted some people who claim to have CFS. I doubt it when they say they are cured after 12 months or less. For one, there is no such thing as a full recovery from CFS. Yes you can recover to a certain extend but not fully. Why do i feel i'm in a position to say this? I live with CFS everyday, i know the realities of it.

Ren, I have to add something in reply to your post..about the 12 month CFS sufferers never to get it again...just want to share my pet hate....

I can not stand when people continually tell me that "I knew someone with CFS and they were so tired that they couldn't even move. But they got over it when they just pushed thru it and didnt allow their body to rest...that's the only way to beat it you know, just push yourself"

Clearly the person did NOT have CFS if that was their cure.

and then just to top it all off they add

"you have to be careful because these things are all in your head you know"

I sit there and feel my bloody boiling...AS IF! If I pushed my body thru it then i would end up in a heap on the floor. I would PAY for it for weeks after. As far as it all being in my head....i wish they could live in my body for just one HOUR and then tell me it is in my head...these pains can not possibly be in my head.

Nice to see someone who has a bit of an influence speaking out about this horrible disease/illness/sickness/condition/whatever the hell it is! Hopefully it has opened a few eyes and ears.
